How to Withdraw From the Quarter

Follow these steps if you need to drop all your classes and withdraw from the current quarter.

  1. Decide if withdrawing for the quarter is right for you.

    1. Visit Sixth College's Academic Advising office, and see a counselor to make sure you will still be on track academically if you withdraw for the quarter.
  2. Notify the appropriate offices that you plan to withdraw.

    1. Notify the resident dean if you live on campus (required).
    2. Notify a financial aid counselor if you receive financial aid (required).
  3. Complete and submit the Undergraduate Withdrawal Form.

    1. Read the instructions on the front of the Undergraduate Withdrawal Form (PDF). Copies of the form are also available at Sixth College's Academic Advising office.

Note: You will find the refund policy on the back of the form.

    2. Complete the form, and submit it to an academic counselor. You will receive a copy of the processed withdrawal form in a couple of days.

To return to UCSD after withdrawal:

  • If you plan to return to UCSD the following quarter, you can enroll in classes when your enrollment start time begins. Check TritonLink for your enrollment start time.
  • If you plan to return to Sixth College after 2 quarters or more, see How to Be Readmitted to Sixth College. (You will need to pay a $45 processing fee to be readmitted to the University if you withdraw for more than two quarters.)

You must meet with your college's academic dean prior to being readmitted to the University if your grade point average was below 2.0 when you withdrew from the University.
