Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a United States and Canada-based program offering students the opportunity to receive university credit for their work during high school.

With some exceptions, students who receive a score of 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement exam may receive either:

  • Course credit to fulfill requirements for a major, minor, prerequisite to a major, or Sixth College Academic Requirements.

(Note: Students may apply one AP course credit per GE area. The other GE course in that area must be taken at UCSD or another accredited college or university.)

or

  • University units to be applied toward the minimum units required to graduate

For more information on course exemptions, see Advanced Placement Credit.
