International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is an international program that offers students the opportunity to receive university credit for work done in high school. Only some high schools in the United States offer this program.

With some exceptions, students who have received a score of 5 or higher on their International Baccalaureate exam may receive either course credit or university units:

  • Course credit to fulfill Sixth College Academic Requirements
    • Students may use one IB credit per Sixth College GE area.
    • The other GE course in that area must be taken at UCSD or another accredited college or university.
  • or
  • University units to be used toward the minimum units required to graduate
