Public Rhetoric and Practical Communication Online

Liz Losh

CAT 125 Losh

This course in public rhetoric and practical communication in digital environments covers a wide range of potential genres, media, and audiences. We will study everything from Facebook profiles to TED talks as rhetorical spaces for public persuasion, commemoration, and comment. Students will do most of their graded writing to create an online portfolio, a personal statement for graduate or professional school, and an oral presentation with timed PowerPoint slides. There will also be a series of short reflections due to help you complete these assignments and reflect on your UCSD education, both inside and outside of class.
