High Tech High Media Arts Mentoring for the Arts/Coding for the Arts

In this Practicum UCSD student mentors will support a diverse body of twelfth-grade students tackling computer coding in the arts for the first time, reinforcing programming knowledge and art fundamentals while gaining valuable communication and interpersonal skills. UCSD student mentors will be supervised on site at High Tech High Media Arts by instructor Margaret Noble, and work with Professor Brett Stalbaum in a two-hour weekly workshop format in order to digest experiences and gain insight into the art of teaching and mentoring. Mentors will help students create a final computer arts project slated for public exhibition at the end of the term, including interactive projects, generative design and/or data visualization works which will respond to a contemporary curated art theme.
