Multi-Arts Events Management in Pedagogy and Practice: ArtPower/Filmatic Festival

Students will acquire practical, firsthand experience in the operation and planning of a major arts festival on campus, and in the process will develop valuable professional experience that will assist them throughout their careers as either artists participating in other festivals or as the organizers and programmers of similar public events. The organization skills learned should be of particular interest to prospective graduate students, a great item to include on graduate school applications. This opportunity will lay some foundation for future academics for whom organizing such events is frequently a part of one’s career path or for those students who seek professional careers as cultural entrepreneurs, curators, or event planners. All students will gain insight into the operations, necessary roles, and skill sets required to participate in, and one day even operate, a public arts festival.
