Welcome to Sixth College! We are so pleased you have decided to join the Sixth College community at the University of California, San Diego. The faculty, students, and staff are proud to welcome you as a member of the youngest and most innovative college at UC San Diego.

From May through September, you will receive emails with important information and approaching deadlines.  Be sure to check your UC San Diego email account regularly. Follow the timeline below for important dates and deadlines.

It is critical that you adhere to the timeline below in order to ensure a smooth transition to UC San Diego. This timeline provides information about registering for the Sixth College on-campus orientation, and a detailed list of steps you will need to follow to receive academic advising and to successfully enroll in courses for the fall quarter.

Registration

Students will register via NewStudent.ucsd.edu. Academic Information will also be updated through this portal. The Orientation fees wil be charged to your student account and should appear sometime during September or October.

The June and September Two Day Orientations are identical, and students need to only attend one.

Class registration does NOT take place during Orientation.

Sixth College is so excited to welcome our largest first-year class in history! We have a great program prepared for our residential and commuter students so they can make the most of their time at Sixth and meet people who could be lifelong friends.

Meals

New Student Orientation attendees will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the first day of orientation. On the second day of orientation, breakfast and lunch are provided.

We do our best to accommodate most common diets and food allergies by providing poultry, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Additionally, we have done our best to eliminate all nuts from the meals. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that meals will be completely free of allergens as they are prepared in facilities that may contain allergens.

When you register for orientation, please be sure to complete the requested information about any dietary restrictions (not preferences) you have.

Guests

New Student Orientation is for students newly enrolled in Sixth College for the upcoming fall quarter. Guests cannot be accommodated for any part of the orientation program, including meals.

Important Dates

New Student Orientation is a one and one-half day program. Attending the New Student Orientation Program is essential to your success at UC San Diego and Sixth College. There is also a 1-day optional Parent/Family orientation. Attendance is strongly encouraged for parents and/or guardians.

In the New Student Site, newly admitted students must review and complete the “My Orientation Session” tab and the "My Academic Information" tab.  See the timeline below for other important dates and deadlines.

Parents & Families

Sixth College provides an optional one-day Parent/Family Orientation program. The program is entirely separate from First-Year Student Orientation. Find more information about the Parent/Family Orientation.

Submit a photo of yourself online for your UC San Diego Campus ID Card. You can go to the Campus Card Office website for additional information.

May 17

Register for the Student Orientation Program before June 30 deadline

May 17

Assist your family in registering for the Parent and Family Orientation before the August 1st deadline
May 17 Complete the "My Academic Information" tab on this website before the June 30 deadline.

May - Early July

Request your official high school transcript, any college transcripts, and any AP/IB scores are sent to the UC San Diego

Admissions office.  Verify that your junior year (or prior) AP/IB scores are sent.
June 30 Deadline to complete the "My Academic Information" tab on New Student Website.
June 30 Deadline to register for the Sixth College Orientation Program to avoid a late fee.
July 1 Deadline to submit final documents to the UCSD Admissions Office.
July 31 Deadline to complete the online We Are Tritons program. Failure to do so will result in a hold being placed on your student account that will prevent you from enrolling in classes
August 1 Take the e-CHUG assessment.
August 1 Deatline to register for the optional Parent/Family Orientation.

August 15 Online E-Advising begins for fall course enrollment.
