The Sixth College Commencement Committee is seeking one student who will address the audience during this year’s Sixth College Commencement Ceremony to be held on Sunday, June 17th, 2018.

On that day, a special opportunity exists for one graduating senior to speak about UCSD, the college experience and their hopes for the future of the graduating class. All members of the graduating class and are in good academic standing are encouraged to apply to be the student speaker.

Deadline to apply is Friday, March 30th at 5pm. For more info on how to apply and the requirement, please refer to the link below.

Sing the National Anthem @ Sixth College's Commencement!
 
The Sixth College Commencement Committee is seeking a student singer or musician to perform the National Anthem at the College’s Commencement Ceremony to be held on Sunday, June 17th, on RIMAC field. All Sixth College students in good academic standing are invited to audition.

To register, send an email to sixthtacoordinator@ucsd.edu , and include the following: a cover email with your name, the subject line "Anthem Performer," cell phone number, and a brief statement about your experience performing music (no more than a paragraph). Attach a file with your short essay (200-400 words) on what performing at the commencement means to you, and why the committee should select you to perform at commencement.

Auditions begin week of April 16th at Pepper Canyon Hall. Deadline to apply is Friday, April 6th, at 5pm

ETHN 189: Race & Responsibility - A Practicum-fulfilling Course
 
The Ethnic Studies department is offering a course that can fulfill your Practicum requirement for Sixth College. This course will examine the politics of responsibility through several lenses: What are our individual and collective responsibilities to one another? How free are people to represent their communities? How do racial identities affect burdens of representation and responsibility?

Classes are MWF from 10-10:50am in CENTER 219B with Dr. Nardeen Kharputly.

Learn more about wellness in this FREE 8 week program offered to current UCSD Students! Each of the 8 weeks covers a different topic of wellness such as cardio, free weights, stretching and relaxation, and nutrition. Students will be instructed in small groups by a certified trainer in the intimate setting of our wellness studio. Our program is located in classes on the registration window, under the category of Personal Wellness Programs.

Excel With Integrity Art Contest!
 
Every year, UC San Diego coordinates an Excel with Integrity Contest. We ask undergraduates, graduate students, and post-docs -- “how do you excel with integrity?”.

This contest is open to all UCSD undergraduates, graduate students and post-docs. Submit a drawing, video, song or written piece that expresses how you excel with integrity, or why you think it is important to excel with integrity. Everybody loves free money!

Deadline is Friday,  April 6, at 9am . We are also looking for students interested in serving on the selection committee for the Contest winners! Read more on our website.

César E. Chávez Undergrad Student Essay Contest 
 
The César E. Chávez Planning Committee is happy to present the 4th Annual UC San Diego Undergraduate Student Essay Contest Award in honor of César E. Chávez. The award will recognize students who have demonstrated commitment to the advancement of César’s core values at UC San Diego and abroad.

Winners will receive the monetary prizes and recognition in UC San Diego media publications. Prize Recipients will be asked to attend the César E. Chávez Celebration Kickoff Luncheon on Friday, April, 6th at 11:30am in the Price Center-West Ballrooms A&B.

Language Conversation Tables (LCTs) Spring 2018 – Host Wanted!
 
LCTs are one of I-House's most popular programs and they involve a collection of tables each featuring a different language. There are hosts at each table that facilitate the learning of that language! Hosts are typically fluent or conversational in the language that they choose.
