I am the Resident Dean and also currently serving as the Interim Dean of Student Affairs at Sixth College. I began my career at UCSD in 2000 as an Assistant Resident Dean at Thurgood Marshall College. In 2003, I was asked to serve as Interim Resident Dean at Sixth College and became the permanent Resident Dean in 2004. Originally from Gary,Indiana, I earned my BA in Spanish Literature from Denison University. After graduation I worked for several years as a Residential Counselor for one of the nation's public residential high schools for students gifted in Math and Science near Chicago, Illinois. I then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University. After working for a few short years in Residential Education at UC Davis, I made the move to UCSD.
As Resident Dean for Sixth, I am responsible for the overall administration of the residential life program at Sixth. I regularly represent residential life on college and university-wide committees, represent the college at university and community events, and coordinate management of the Sixth facilities with the Housing and Dining staff, Maintenance, Custodial, and Facilities and Grounds staffs. I also have the privilege of working with students around issues of Academic and Non-Academic misconduct.
My best advice for students is to get involved, make the most of your college experience and take good care of your community and its members. Here at Sixth you will have amazing opportunities to experience "life" outside the classroom. Make the most of the opportunities to learn something new, experience something unique and connect with new and exciting people. Sixth is an incredibly special place at UCSD filed with wonderful opportunities, staff and students.
