The Sixth College Ambassador Program is a partnership between the
Sixth College Student Council and Sixth College. It provides volunteer leadership opportunities for continuing students interested in developing other students' sense of belonging and connectedness to the Sixth community. Sixth College Ambassadors assist and volunteer with very important College events and enhance in important ways the welcoming of new students to the Sixth College community. Additionally, Ambassadors will act as the face of Sixth College at a number of key programs and events.
Duties of a Sixth College Ambassador include:
- Helping to plan and implement important Sixth College events such as Move-in Day, Orientation, Welcome Week, Family Day, Admit Day, Commencement
- Introducing new students to involvement and community-building opportunities
- Working closely with other Sixth students and staff to enrich the undergraduate experience at Sixth and UCSD
Want to become an ambassador? Each Winter Quarter, Sixth College recruits and selects new ambassadors. Selection is completed by the Spring Quarter, when new ambassadors participate in a required 7-hour orientation and training program. Training continues with an additional 3-hour session right before new student orientation in September.
Sixth College Ambassadors will be provided with meals during events for which they volunteer. Additionally, Ambassadors will receive an official Sixth College Ambassador t-shirt, which will constitute a uniform that is expected to be worn during events. It may be possible for resident student Ambassadors participating in New Student Orientation and Parent/Family Orientation to move into the residential facilities early. Ambassadors are expected to commit approximately 20 hours to the program during the Orientation-Welcome Week period.
To apply, fill out an
application and turn into the Sixth College hub, 2nd floor of Pepper Canyon Hall, by Friday, March 21, 4:30 p.m.
