Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship

The Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship is open to Sixth College students who will participate in study abroad programs, including but not limited to EAP, OAP, and Global Seminars. Students may apply for one of the available $500 scholarship awards by completing the specified application process for the time period during which they will be studying abroad.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship must:

  • Be registered, full-time students at Sixth College.
  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Have at least a 2.0 GPA.
  • Have sophomore standing by the time their study abroad programs begin.
  • Meet all requirements and prerequisites for their study abroad programs.

Application Process

There are two application periods for the Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship each year. Each period has a different application process and submission deadline. Students studying abroad in the winter or spring quarters apply for scholarship funding directly from Sixth College during the fall quarter before they go abroad. Students studying abroad in the summer or fall quarters apply for scholarship funding through Academic Works during the winter quarter before they go abroad.

  • Winter/Spring 2020 submission deadline: Friday, November 22, 2019.
  • Summer/Fall 2020 submission deadline: Monday, March 2, 2020.

Winter/Spring 2020 Application

Students studying abroad in the winter or spring can apply for scholarship funding directly from Sixth College by following the steps below.

  • Download the scholarship application form.
  • Completely fill out the form by answering the questions asked using specific and concrete details about your chosen study abroad program and how it meets your educational goals.
  • E-mail your completed application form to sixthstudyabroad@ucsd.edu by the end of the day on the submission deadline.

Applications for the Winter/Spring 2020 Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship must be submitted by Friday, November 22, 2019.

Summer/Fall 2020 Application

Students studying abroad in the summer or fall can apply for scholarship funding through Academic Works by following the steps below.

  • Complete the general application.
  • Check the box that indicates you are "interested in study abroad."
  • Fill out the supplemental study abroad scholarship application.

Applications for the Summer/Fall 2020 Sixth College Study Abroad Scholarship must be submitted by Monday, March 2, 2020.
