Let It Flow

Let It Flow is an annual event held by Sixth College Residence Life with the purpose of celebrating Black students and Black student artists on campus. Our theme this year is "Black Artistry in Motion" with the purpose of inspiring the mind and empowering the student through art. Join us February 16th-18th. Navigating Your Early Career as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color (BIPOC)

Student Foundation's Meet the Boss program, brought to you by the Student Alumni Associates committee, seeks to engage students on practical early career advice and is typically focused on a specific field or topic of interest. This quarter, we are partnering with Thurgood Marshall College to address a topic of conversation that students of color typically don’t access to prior to entering the workforce, which is the structural racism and implicit bias they will likely face while job hunting and in their early career. Sixth College Remote Learner Inspiration Award

Hello Sixers! Sixth College Student Council would like to award select students for their ability to adapt to the current global situation and inspire us all with their resilience. The Sixth College Remote Learner Inspiration Award is for all Sixth students who have completed at least some of their education remotely. The main prompt will require either a 1000 word essay or a 5 minute video essay on how you as a student have tackled remote learning. First place will receive a $250 UCSD Bookstore giftcard, second place will receive a $100 UCSD Bookstore giftcard, and third place will receive a $50 UCSD Bookstore giftcard. Join the College Bowl Team

College Bowl is an annual UCSD competition where students from each College team-up to compete in a wide range of quiz questions in a battle of wits! Teams consist of 2-4 members, and then those teams first compete in a round within their own College to decide which team will be representing Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, ERC, Sixth, & Seventh in the finals for the chance to take home the Golden Brain. The Student Satisfaction Survey helps campus departments better understand how to support & improve services for students based on your feedback. Complete the survey at studentsat.ucsd.edu between January 20 and February 17. Get Your Flu Vaccine Today!
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone 6 months old and older get a flu shot every year. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, so get vaccinated early in fall, before flu season begins or as soon as you can. The influenza vaccine is now available at doctors’ offices and pharmacies throughout San Diego County and is covered by medical insurance. People who do not have healthcare coverage can get vaccinated at one of the County’s six Public Health Centers or a local community clinic.

Are you interested in digital signal processing? NeuroTech in UCSD is excited to collaborate with Triton Robosub for an intuitive DSP workshop! From the introduction (digital filters, FIR, IIR, and audio processing) to technical application, this workshop is helpful for people with all levels. To make our workshop beneficial for you, we use an interactive learning tool, similar to the Jupyter notebook, to go into deeper concepts such as Linear systems, Convolution, and Discrete Fourier Transform. If you want to quickly advance your knowledge in digital processing, this is a good workshop for you!

STEMtorship Network
The STEMtorship Network program is intended to create space where gender marginalized undergraduate students can connect and build community within the larger context of STEM as a male dominated field. We use the term “gender marginalized” to recognize the impact of sexism on many communities including, but not limited to, transgender women, cisgender women, transgender men, non-binary individuals, and gender non-conforming individuals. Students who complete all aspects of the program can receive CCR credit. The STEMtorship Network program has been reimagined to be more flexible! Students can register at any time, choose their level of engagement and attend programs that fit their schedules.

We are excited to announce the Jim & Julie Lin Environmental Justice in Underserved Communities Award! The scholarship will grant one $1,000 award to a student who is passionate about helping underserved communities in the area of environmental justice.

This Scholarship Award celebrates equity, diversity, and inclusion at UC San Diego. It is awarded to a student who has demonstrated skill and passion in developing new programs or initiatives that substantially impact the Cross-Cultural Center and the UC San Diego community.

Housing, Dining, and Hospitality (HDH) along with Transportation Services and Basic Needs at UC San Diego have partnered to offer a free weekly shuttle service to La Jolla Village Square and Convoy from The Village, Pepper Canyon for both Graduate and undergraduate students. You can find various dining options there as well as grocery stores (99 Ranch Market, Balboa International Market, Food 4 Less, Zion Market, Tropical Star Market and Restaurant, and H-Mart).

CAPS: Community Forum
Join us in Community forums! These are identity-based forums to serve diverse student groups. The forums allow students to connect with each other through a Zoom meeting. These are spaces for both undergraduate and graduate students to build community and maintain relationships with one another. The forums give students a space to build social connection during this time of physical distancing. .

Daily Drop-In Workshops
Educational and skill-building online Zoom workshops for students to learn new coping strategies or build upon tools they already have. Learning these skills helps students to improve stress management and emotional regulation, build tools for resilience, and learn strategies for well-being. Some of our workshops this quarter will focus specifically teaching relaxation techniques, mindfulness skills, and helping students improve sleep.

iFlourish Technology Offerings at CAPS
iFlourish is an online self-improvement program. We offer three self-guided technology programs that provide evidence-based intervention designed to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Personal Training 
A personal trainer can help you develop a safe and effective individualized workout plan to help you achieve your goals. Whether you meet regularly or periodically they can assist you with corrective feedback and accountability. All of our trainers are professionally certified through nationally recognized organizations. We now offer one hour sessions that are both outdoor and virtual. Equipment is provided for outdoor sessions and you have the option to rent equipment for virtual sessions. Return to Rec 
Return to Rec you must with outdoor classes and trips along with swim, basketball, tennis and outdoor gym reservations! After registering for Return to Rec, members will have access to our entire galaxy of current Recreation programming and facility reservations. Return to Rec memberships are available to students for no additional credits, and faculty and staff won’t need a thermal detonator to negotiate a great price. This is the way.
Winter Playground Classes
Recreation winter virtual Playground classes run from Jan 4 - March 13 with a wide variety of offerings for adults and kids including yoga, Pilates, dance, martial arts, meditation, guitar, and more! Registration and passwords are required for all Playground offerings; find all the details here!
