Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean that you must be a first- or second-year student in order to be eligible to apply? Is that based off of my entry year or my cumulative units?

For this purpose, we are not basing your class standing on the number of units you have completed, but instead on the years you have actually attended the university. You must be in either your first or second year at UC San Diego.

Can I participate in the program if I am a transfer student?

No, currently this program is only available to non-transfer students, but we hope to introduce a transfer version in the near future.

Am I eligible to apply if I have previously taken CAT-001 and CAT-002, but did not pass CAT-002 and need to take it again?

No, you must not have previously taken CAT-002 and must currently be taking CAT-001 in order to to be eligible for the program.

If I applied after the original deadline and haven't received a decision by my first-pass enrollment time, should I wait to hear if I was accepted to the program before registering for a CAT-002 course?

No, do not wait to enroll in CAT-002 if you do not yet know if you've been admitted to CAT-002CE. You should enroll in CAT-002 during your first pass to secure a seat in the course. If you are accepted to the program, you can then drop from CAT-002 and register for CAT-002CE instead.

If I apply but am not accepted this year, can I apply again next year?

No, you can only apply to the program one time, during the quarter you take CAT-001.
