Erin Nicole Vedar

Hello, Sixers! My name is Erin Nicole (she/they) Vedar, and I’m one of your Academic Advisors at Sixth College Academic Advising. I am a first generation Filipinx American, born and raised in San Diego. I have graduated from San Diego State University THREE times, with a BA in Psychology, an MA in Education, emphasis Counseling, and most recently, another MA in Postsecondary Educational Leadership, specialization in Student Affairs. Somewhere between those degrees, I also attended San Diego Mesa Community College and got a Certificate in ASL Studies (career/major shifts happen!).

As an undergraduate, I was heavily involved in student organizations like Andres Bonifacio Samahan, Asian Pacific Student Alliance, and Alpha Phi Omega. I have served on executive boards, large event planning committees, and volunteered for more events than I can count. I am a strong advocate for finding/building community on campus, and encouraging students to take advantage of the networks and resources present at UC San Diego. As a graduate student, I worked at the Center for Student Involvement - Communication and Leadership program, where I facilitated iLead workshops and various Seminar programs.

I’m so excited to meet you virtually or safely in-person, to support you in your academic journeys, wherever it may take you. If any part of my story feels familiar to yours, or even if it doesn’t, feel free to ask me about it! Outside of work, I love going to the beach or hiking, listening to music or dancing, and taking lots of naps. During the pandemic, I’ve also gotten into Dungeons and Dragons, as well as more video games than I actually play. Hope to see you soon!
